Stopped in for a chat and water, friendly little shop, good stock, highly recommended.

I rented a Yahama electric bike from them": to cycle from Petersfield to Amberley along the South Downs Way. I know the route well. My own Scott mountain bike was in for repair. What I found was that with the Yahama electric bike you can use the power as much or as little as you like. I happened to want some exercise. I switched off the electric motor for all but the up hills. Despite the Yahama being a heavier bike than my own bike because of its electric motor it really is quite a nimble mountain bike in any case. Well designed. The geometry suited me. But the delight is when you come to a hill. Switch on and the hill is no more effort than the flat. It is actually a quite marvellous feeling. That awful hill from Buriton up to the South Downs Way for instance. Easy. Any other hill where but for the electric motor and the resultant increase in speed you might lose your balance. Easy. In 3 1/2 hours of cycling I used only about one quarter of the battery life. I had a charger on me. I could have stopped at the pub at Cocking and recharged over lunch. Not necessary. I am of ripe years now. I will buy an electric bike. The result will be that I will go on rides which otherwise I would not have gone on. You get the ecstasy (and as much exercise as you want) without the agony. Rental at 30 a pop is a snip.
